“Gaia” is a term from Greek mythology, referring to the primal goddess who personifies the Earth. Often depicted as the ancestral mother of all life, Gaia embodies the essence of Mother Earth. Beyond mythology, the concept of Gaia extends into scientific contexts, such as the Gaia hypothesis, which suggests that Earth functions as a self-regulating system.

In my painting “Gaia” suggests a profound connection between the eye, representing perception and observation, and the natural world. Lush green vegetation, a running waterfall and stream, butterflies and birds, and a mountainous range symbolizes the connection between observation and a profound reverence for the Earth and its ecosystems.

 

It highlights the interconnectedness of all living beings, inviting viewers to reflect on their relationship with nature and the importance of preserving it.
